Cultural heritage – SEFRAK buildings

Description

SEFRAK is a nationwide register of older buildings and other cultural monuments in Norway. The name is an abbreviation for the Secretariat For Registration of Permanent Cultural Heritage, which was the name of the institution that started work on the register. Today, the responsibility for registering and maintaining data lies with the Directorate for Cultural Heritage. All buildings from before 1900 were registered, besides ruins and a number of other cultural monuments. In Finnmark, the limit for entry into the register was set for the year 1945. The fact that a house is registered in SEFRAK does not automatically give protection status, nor does it place specific restrictions on what can be done about it. The SEFRAK register does not say anything about the objects’ conservation value.
