Areas in the Netherlands 2018
Description
This table establishes a relationship between the municipal classification (the lowest administrative level in the Netherlands) on 1 January 2018 and various subdivisions of the Dutch territory at upper municipal level. With the information from this table, figures from municipalities can be added together, so that figures can also be calculated at the upper municipal level. For the classification by tourist areas, exceptions apply. In the table, click the relevant column heading (“Tourist Areas”) to get detailed information.
The table is composed of:
— Codes and names of municipalities.
— Localisations of municipalities. It is hereby indicated to which areas a municipality belongs.
— Size and urbanity of municipalities.
— Statistical data. This includes the population number and the environmental address density. Based on this data, the size and urbanity of municipalities are based.
For each municipality, the table shows which areas the municipality is part of. On the other hand, the associated municipalities can be searched for in the regions, provinces and COROP areas.

Amendments as of 26 February 2021:

Changes as of 10 February 2021:
The new regional classification “SubRES Region” has been added. This is a subdivision of a number of Regional Energy Strategy regions and some of the names of the Regional Energy Strategy have been adapted.
Changes as of 21 February 2020:
The table is extended by 2 new formats. These are the RMC regions and the RES regions.
“RMC” stands for regional reporting and coordination point. In these regions, schools and municipalities work together to prevent pupils from leaving school without a starting qualification.All municipalities in the Netherlands participate in one of the 39 RMC regions.
In the RES regions, local authorities (municipalities, provinces and water boards) are working on drawing up Regional Energy Strategies (RES).
