Federal Inventory of Batracian Breeding Sites of National Importance (FR)
Description
Switzerland today has 19 species of amphibians — almost all of them are on the red list of endangered animal species. The area of wetlands as habitat of the amphibians has shrunk to less than a tenth in the last 100 years. The remaining habitats should therefore be secured. The fixed objects (cover AM_l) are divided into two different areas: Area A is subordinate to nature conservation. Area B covers the narrower area of land habitats and buffer zones. They are mostly land used for agriculture and forestry. The hiking objects (cover AM_G) contain used pits, within which the dynamic prerequisite for the preservation of the existing amphibian stocks is to be maintained. As the fourth federal inventory pursuant to Art. 18a NHG, the Federal Council put into force in 2001 the Federal Inventory of the amphibian spawning areas with 701 objects, which was completed in 2003 and 2007 with two additions and now comprises 828 objects.
