Regional key figures for the Netherlands

This table presents the most important statistical data for various regional breakdowns for a wide range of topics.

Status of figures:
The figures in this table are final unless it is indicated in the notes to 'periods' or 'topic' that they are provisional or further provisional.
CBS is moving to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, in addition to where someone's parents were born. The word "migration background" is no longer used. The main classification Western/non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.
For this StatLine table, it has been decided that the breakdown by migration background will no longer be updated as of 2023. The new classification will be included in this table if sufficient years are available for a new series. Regional figures by country of origin can be found in the tables 'Population; country of origin, country of birth, age, region, 1 January' and 'Key figures districts and neighbourhoods 2023'. Links to these tables are provided in Section 3.

Corrections:
Properties by property: In 2023, it was found that the derivation of rental housing owned by housing corporations for the years 2019 to 2022 was not always correct, as a result of which the number of rental housing owned by housing corporations was underestimated in some municipalities in specific years and the number of rental housing owned by other landlords was overestimated. The figures from 2019 to 2022 have now been corrected.
Proximity to facilities: Further analysis of the figures for 2022 has shown that they differ from previous years due to changes in the GIS software used. As the recalculation of the figures will take some time, the divergent figures for 2022 will be withdrawn until the new figures are ready.
New figures:
Total population: 2024 provisional figures have been replaced by final figures.
Population by sex, age and marital status: the final figures for 2024 have been added.
Population density: the final figures for 2024 have been added.
Average population: the final figures for 2023 have been added.
Education, pupils by school municipality: the final figures for school year 2022/'23 and the provisional figures for school year 2023/'24 have been added.
Agriculture, livestock and agricultural land: the final figures for 2023 have been added.
Land use, area: the final figures for 2024 have been added.
Changes as of 18 December 2023:
Correction: Due to a change in the source dates of the student debts, the figures for 2019 and 2020 have been adjusted for the subject Capital.
