Regional environmental monitoring: Mapping of vegetation on open marshes in Norrbotten, 1986. Myrvegetation type map.
Description
“Satellite-based monitoring of wetlands” is used to detect land use-related vegetation changes in open marshes. The method is based on the assumption that spectral and vegetation homogeneous ants appear similar in terms of phenology and weather. The “Satellite-based monitoring of wetlands” performs a basic classification of open ant in the older satellite scene. The base classification distinguishes spectrally homogeneous wetland units that form the basis for the targeted change analysis carried out in the next step. The basic classification is actually a by-product used for the targeted change analysis, but it has a value in itself because it is a comprehensive mapping of ant vegetation within the mask for open ant.
The study “Kartering of vegetation on open marshes in Norrbotten — Myrvegetation type map” aims to develop an ant vegetation type map for open ant by translating the basic wetland units (via a translation table) into well-known hydrological vegetation types.
