The map shows the hydrogeological units on a scale of 1:500 000.
A hydrogeological unit is a rock body which, due to its petrography, texture or structure, has uniform hydrogeological properties within a defined range and is limited by layer boundaries, facies, erosion margins or disturbances (Hydrogeologise Carting Instruction 1997, Geol.Jb.G2:59). The hydrogeological units are the smallest building blocks from which the hydrogeological subspaces, spaces and large spaces can be constructed in characteristic combinations.
