Background levels for organic pollutants (ST-BIS-20)
Description
On the basis of the test results from topsoil samples on 62 permanent soil observation areas used for agriculture and forestry, background values for organic pollutants in the topsoils of rural areas were calculated statistically for the Land of Saxony-Anhalt. For the first time, these provide guidance on concentration levels of selected organic substances. For statistical evaluation, the standardised sampling method used (repetition measurements and parallel samples) provides an appropriate basis. It is not possible to transfer the one-off data to the area on the basis of the types of use.
The values obtained serve as an indicative indication of the background level. In individual cases, further factual investigations are required with the involvement of the competent authority, i.e. the lower soil protection authority. The requirements of the BBodSchV, Annex 1, must be taken into account.
This excludes settlements, industrial areas and floodplains.
