Carbon-rich soils (BHK50) and additional bog biotopes
Description
Depicted are bogs and other carbon-rich soils in Lower Saxony according to carbon-rich soils 1 : 50,000 (BHK50), as well as additional peatland biotopes outside the areas designated by the BHK50.Unlike the database of the additional significant peatland biotopes in the Niedersächsische Moorlandschaften (NML) backdrop, this database contains not only the peatland biotopes that are important for biotope protection, but also less important biotopes that, according to the mapping key for biotope types in Lower Saxony (von Drachenfels, 2021), as well as further assessments of the area of responsibility for national biotope protection (NLWKN: 2020) can typically be assigned to organic sites. The database contains not only the peatlands relevant for climate protection or biotope protection, but also more degraded (degraded) peatlands.It is pointed out that the database is an overview. It can be used to get an overview of the carbon-rich soils and also mapped biotopes of Lower Saxony or to identify search spaces. On the other hand, it cannot be a basis for clear-cut, regional statements.
