Description
Biogenic waste, sewage sludge and animal meal contain high nutrient loads, especially nitrogen and phosphorus. These should be managed as efficiently and environmentally friendly as possible. The report describes which treatment processes and recycling routes are most efficient and how the nutrients contained in the waste can be used in the best possible way and the environmental impact can be kept as low as possible. In addition, it contains detailed recommendations for the application of appropriate treatment and recycling procedures as well as for the adaptation of legal requirements with regard to resource conservation. Literature research and surveys at selected compost and sewage treatment plants as well as at farmers provide insight into the practice of recycling composts and sewage sludge.
