Environmental protection areas for silence
Description
These maps form part of the Provincial Environmental Ordinance Zuid-Holland and contain the environmental protection areas for silence of the province.
The production of these maps is based on the current environmental protection areas for silence, as established by the Provincial Council within the framework of the Provincial Environmental Ordinance Zuid-Holland. The maps give an overview of the environmental protection areas for silence (silence areas) under the Provincial Environmental Ordinance Zuid-Holland, as it applies after the amendments to the eighth tranche that entered into force on 1 May 2013. An environmental protection area for silence is an area designated in the Provincial Environmental Ordinance as referred to in Article 1.2(2)(b) of the Environmental Management Act, for which the Provincial Environmental Ordinance lays down rules on the prevention or reduction of noise nuisance.
The designated areas are indicated on maps relating to the Provincial Environmental Ordinance. The area is primarily determined on the basis of the criterion of the noise load, the 40db(A) contour. However, this is not used as a hard border, the boundaries are sometimes partly determined by recognizable elements in the landscape (locks, roads and waterways) with a clear separating effect.
