House numbers serve order and orientation within populated areas and are given as well as street names by the relevant municipality. The relevant legal bases for the allocation of Hausummers are § 5(4) Sächsische Gemeindeordnung (SächsGemO), § 126(3) Baugesetzbuch (BauGB) and § 9 Police Act of the Free State of Saxony (SächsPolG).
The ongoing updating of the house addresses is ensured by notifying the relevant cities and municipalities to the Office for cadastral and geoinformation.
By displaying these location names in the official cadastral map, a spatial reference for the respective object (resident — residence address, commercial location — business address, etc.) is made to the surface of the earth.
Officially georeferenced house addresses enable a representation of the location designation in map systems and a link of further information to the respective address via the unique assignment.
The contents and format of the data sets are based on uniform standards throughout Germany and contain the georeference (coordinates), the official name of the object, its encryption and the corresponding postal address.
