Description
In the environmental typing analysis, the most typical types of milieu found in the central area of Turku have been distinguished and named. The characteristics of the types of milieu are described in the Cityscape of the City of Turku report. The typology is based on what kind of urban landscape dominates the sub-area and what kind of milieu the majority of the area represents. In the preparation of the milieu typology, the history of the city centre's zoning, the phases of the construction of areas and sites, the impact of traffic planning on the cityscape and the current appearance of street space and yards have been examined.
