Description

A banning forest is a special form of protective forest or forests with a welfare function. Banning can be carried out in the case of property protection forests, forests in which the welfare effect predominates, and forests from which direct danger arises due to their condition or management. The possibility exists only for forests in which the economic or public interest to be protected (= banning purpose) is more important than the associated restrictions for the forest owner due to the banning. Possible banning purposes include: Schutz vor Naturgefahren (Lawinen Muren, Steinschlag, Hochwasser etc.) Quellschutz Erhalt von Straßen und Stromleitungen Sicherung von militärischen Anlagen As part of the ‘Forest Protects Us!’ action programme, the milestone ‘Digitalisation Initiative Schutzwald’ was the first time that an up-to-date and nationwide status of active banning forests was evaluated (by decision).
