Environmental Network of Pirkanmaa 2014
Description
The Pirkanmaa Ecological Network 2014 is a set of spatial datasets that consists of the core areas of nature, nature reserves, landscape areas, geologically valuable ridge areas and the connections between them all.
The ecological network of Pirkanmaa was created in 2014 as a result of the work on the nature characteristics of different parts of the county, taking into account the most significant core areas of biodiversity and the connections between them. The work is based on national land use targets, which require the maintenance of ecological connections in land use planning. The Pirkanmaa ecological network has been taken into account in the Pirkanmaa regional plan 2040, among other things, as core areas of biodiversity and agricultural and forestry-intensive areas, which are important for ecosystem services.
