Birds Directive areas

Description

This file contains the demarcations of the Birds Directive Areas (SBZ-V) as approved by the Flemish Government on 17 October 1988, 20 September 1996, 23 June 1998, 17 July 2000 and 22 July 2005. The Birds Directive or the European Directive 2009/147/EC aims to promote the conservation of all naturally occurring wild bird species in the European territory of the Member States. The most important measure is the designation of Special Protection Areas. Measures must be taken in these areas to protect bird species and their habitats. The designation or demarcation of the areas is done on the site on analog maps. Digitization was done on the screen using medium-scale map material on a scale of 1/25,000 or 1/50,000.
