ZüriACT barrier-free mobility

As part of the pilot project "ZüriACT" led by Dr. Hoda Allahbashki and François Rüttimann (Züri Accessible CiTy) the University of Zurich - in cooperation with the City of Zurich - has researched new methods to facilitate the mobility of people with reduced mobility (elderly people with age-related gait disorders, people with reduced mobility such as wheelchair users, mothers or fathers with prams, heavily loaded passers-by, etc.). Thanks to the participation of different population groups, based on image-based digital tools, over 9'000 point data were collected in district 1, which either make it difficult, impossible or vice versa easier to navigate the footpath of these population groups.

Purpose: For the time being, these data were collected for research purposes as part of a pilot project, which is limited to Stadtzürcher Kreis 1. Thanks to the experience gained, further methods and/or procedures are to be studied, which should enable barrier-free mobility and navigation on a larger scale in the future.
