Lanscape history

Description

Landscape history maps are mainly maps of the structure of landscape history drawn electronically on the basis of big division maps from the turn of the 18th to 18th century. They can be used to illustrate and locate, for example, the location of old village hollows, fields, meadows and mills and the passage of roads, as well as to study the relationship between buildings and their historical environment. The maps have been produced at the Regional Museum of Southwest Finland in connection with various development projects. The digital images of the original old maps have been placed on top of the basic maps, and the map patterns and characters have been vectored in the spatial data program. The documents included in the maps have been examined and their data content has been recorded in the table alongside the map marks. In this way, the information on the maps can be identified, for example, in terms of the nomenclature.
