Educational institutions

Location and name of educational institutions. Statistical year 2022.

Includes the locations (x,y) and names of comprehensive schools, upper secondary schools and comprehensive schools extracted from Statistics Finland’s register of educational institutions. The register of educational institutions (https://tilastokeskus.fi/tup/oppilaitosrekisteri/index.html), which is updated annually in the spring, contains information on educational institutions. Educational institutions in the register of educational institutions refer to an administrative unit and not as such to a school building or a place of business.

Statistics Finland maintains a register of educational institutions to produce statistics describing educational institutions. Location information in comprehensive schools can be used, for example, for the planning of school districts.

Includes, in addition to the school ID (TUNN), name (One name) and coordinates, the following variables:

Validity (OLO):
0 = Valid
1 = Stopped in statistical year
2 = United to second institution in the statistical year
3 = School removed from school institutions
6 = There is no activity in the educational establishment in the statistical year
7 = Technical removal

Type of institution (OLTYP):
11 = Comprehensive schools
12 = Specialised primary schools
15 = High Schools
19 = Primary and upper secondary schools
