Depth of the base Upper Bunt sandstone in the duck beak
Description
The base surface of the Upper Bunt sandstone reaches depths between 2000-6 800 m. The largest depth is reached within the John Basin on the border with the Danish North Sea sector. Also large depths above 6 000 m are reached in the south-eastern central moat. The distribution of the Upper Buntsandstein is roughly the same as that of the Keuper. The salt structures together with most disturbances form a bead-like pattern. In contrast, large areas of the horizon are hardly disturbed.
