Land and water areas of Helsinki

Description

The dataset includes the land and water areas of Helsinki as spatial data objects. Bridges and small piers in the sea area have been removed from the land and added to the water mask. Large quays are classified as land: the quay is counted as land when surrounded by a support wall. The coastline also circles around the pier. Smaller water bodies have not been treated so far, and the water mask is not uniform for them. The data is formed automatically from the data in the real estate and master map. The material is experimental, so minor formation errors are possible. Corresponding data cut by official regional divisions (districts, district division excluding small areas) is also available, which can be used, for example, to present statistics. Generalised land material has been used in the cut (small islands and waters have been removed from the material). In addition, the interface service provides levels of land only per regional division (it is worth using the land and water basic material with a simplified water mask). The material is divided into the following levels: - mainland (incl. all waters) - land area generalized (only major waters and less than 500m^2 islands removed) - sea area - islands - other_sculpture - water area generalised (sea area and main other water areas; includes islands that exceed 500m^2) The material can also be downloaded in several different formats, including: JSON, KML, GIF, Tiff, GeoTiff, JPEG, PNG, CSV, Esri Shape. The available formats can always be found with the [GetCapabilities](https://kartta.hel.fi/ws/geoserver/avoindata/wfs?request=GetCapabilities) survey. **NOTE!** The datasets are heavy in terms of geometric properties and their WFS download may, for example, in GML format to older QGIS versions take / may be interrupted depending on the speed of the internet connection etc. It is faster to use the material directly in file format, downloaded from the interface.
