Report: “Miesmuschel: Management National Park “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea” — Interim Report (2001)
Description
“At the beginning of January 1999, a mussel management plan came into force in Lower Saxony, which includes, among other things, a scientific support for the development phase of mussel management, which takes place through the project “Scientific accompanying studies on the development phase of mussel management in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park”. The project is funded by the Lower Saxony Wattenmeehrstiftung.
The aim of the project is to document and evaluate the impact of the management measures. For this purpose, stock records of mussels in the Eulitoral are regularly carried out using aerial photographs, railings and sampling. The samples are then evaluated in the laboratory. The total inventory collection takes place in the spring and the inventory is recorded at selected locations in the autumn. Location factors are also assessed. [...]
A further task of the project is the preparation of semi-annual reports on the content and status of the work and the preparation of the meetings of the accompanying committee. [...] The first results of the spring stock collection were presented. This is the second interim project report with the results of the 2001 investigation year.’
