Description
“[...] Within the framework of a mandate from the Federal Environment Agency and the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Environment, the FSK of the NLÖ is currently working on the development of the basis for an evaluation scheme for the transitional and coastal waters of the German North Sea coast. [...] The thesis paper presented here presents the research results in a relatively compressed form and evaluates them against the background of spatial and temporal variability. Existing concepts on mission statements, approaches for evaluation schemes, information on long-term development processes related to natural or anthropogenic changes in the boundary conditions etc. are briefly addressed and taken into account when identifying possible parameters/assigned reference states.
Finally, each of the 4 chapters on the quality components macrophytes, macrozoobenthos, phytoplankton and nutrient ratios leads to an approach for a reference and classification matrix in which the reference states (quantitative and qualitative) in the different areas (water bodies, water types, river basins) are assigned among the individual parameters.
