Report: ‘Protection of proof Coastal protection Ley Bay: Vegetation development Leyhörn (1998)»
Description
‘In 1985, the Stawa Aurich (hereinafter NLWK branch of Aurich) began the measure ‘Coast Protection Leybucht’. Under this measure, a storm-proof dyke (Leyhörn) protruding north-west to deep water (Norderley) was erected in the Ley Bay area with siel structure, lock and storage basin. With the construction of Leyhörn as well as the further measures for the “Coast Protection Leybucht” a total of around 740 ha of summer polder, salt marshes and wattage areas were built or otherwise removed from their previous function. With the 1985 Plan Approval Decision, conditions were imposed which put nature conservation in the Leyhörn in the foreground. Accordingly, in 1994 Leyhörn and the south-west adjoining clerients were placed under nature conservation by the Weser-Ems district government (NSG Leyhörn).
The NLÖ Coast Research Centre (NLÖ — FSK) was commissioned by the district government of Weser-Ems [...] to continue the first phase of evidence (1989 to 1997) with a second phase of investigation (1998 to 2000). This includes, among other things, an inventory of flora and vegetation of the NSG Leyhörn (without leaching areas at Hauen). The service report deals with it.
The inventory was carried out in 1998 in the form of a comprehensive vegetation mapping on a scale of 1:2,500, as well as a survey of all plant species and the “Red List Species”. In addition, soil surveys were carried out at representative locations. The surveys were supplemented by further partial investigations in 1999. The report compiles the data and results obtained.
