Report: ‘Muscle: Management National Park “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea” – Final Report (1995-2003)
Description
The task of the project “Scientific accompanying studies on the development phase of mussel management in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park” was to document and evaluate the effects of the measures of the mussel management plan. In order to achieve the project objectives, annual surveys of the total stock in spring as well as inventory surveys at selected research sites in autumn were carried out through aerial surveys and site surveys. The aerial imagery was used to determine the area of the mussel banks and the terrain surveys for the determination of biomass, abundance, age structure, stocking, coverage, skill content, relief, width of the faeches/pseudofaecessock and accompanying fauna. Furthermore, the dynamics of the mussel banks as well as population and location development were shown. The documentation of the mussel sites, which began in 1995, was continuously updated and revised in 2003. [...] This final report shall contain all the results.”
