Report: “Surveillance of Lower Saxony coast — routine investigations 1998”
Description
“Since 1994, the Lower Saxony State Office for Ecology (NLÖ) — Coastal Research Centre — has carried out physico-chemical and biological studies to monitor the coastal waters of Lower Saxony according to a concept agreed with the Ministry of the Environment of Lower Saxony. [...]
It also includes essential basic monitoring components that can be included in the new federal/state measurement programme (BLMP) and the Trilateral Wadden Sea Monitoring Programme (TMAP). In doing so, the Land of Lower Saxony will also fulfil its obligations due to its coastal waters in the monitoring programme organised at national level (BLMP) as well as in the interwoven international monitoring programmes (JAMP, TMAP). In particular, the integration of a number of biological investigation components into the concept ensures that the meaningfulness is maintained in the longer term and goes beyond the existing possibilities. [...] The 1998 monitoring report summarises the results of the following routine investigations of 1998:
Water tests: Nutrient and pollutant inputs from Ems, Weser and Elbe into the German Bay;
Water tests: Distribution of nutrients and pollutants in the mouths of Ems, Weser and Elbe;
Water tests: Summer nutrient distribution;
Water tests: Winter nutrient and pollutant distribution
Water tests: Continuous testing for the detection of water-chemical measurements;
Sediment studies: Pollutants in organisms (heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants in mussels and flatfish);
Biological inventory monitoring: Permanent examination of phytoplankton;
Biological inventory monitoring: Information system for plankton flowers and toxic algae;
Biological inventory monitoring: Continuous examination of eulitoral macrozoobenthos: Weser fatigue;
Biological inventory monitoring: Continuous examination of eulitoral macrozoobenthos: Norderneyer Watt;
