Description
The “Trilateral Monitoring and Assessment Program (TMAP)” introduced an integrated and methodologically uniform monitoring of the Wadden Sea ecosystem by the three neighbouring countries Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
In the course of the implementation of this programme, the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park Administration commissioned the NLÖ Coast Research Centre in autumn 1998 to set up 4 monitoring stations for the monitoring of the macrozoobenthos on the Lütetsburg Plate.
Together with the permanent stations of the NLÖ Coast Research Centre in Norderney Islandwatt, which has been in existence since 1976, the aim is to establish a continuous eulitoral station profile from the mainland line to the island watt.
To determine the monitoring stations, a transect test on the Lütetsburger Plate and the adjoining Ostermarscher Watt was carried out by the NLÖ Coast Research Centre in November 1998 as part of a preliminary investigation.
a) to record the species spectrum and abundance distribution on the transect; and
select representative biotope areas for the establishment of the 4 permanent stations. The results of this preliminary study will be presented in this report.”
