Description
In the period from early June to mid-November 1988, the coastal area between Ems and Elbe was sampled in a 2-week rhythm. The abundances of different plankton organisms, in particular the flagellate genera Phaeocystis, Dinophysis and Chrysochromulina, as well as the physico-chemical parameters water temperature, salinity, chlorophyll, seston and nutrient salts were observed.
From June till November 1988 a plankton investigation was carried out along the coast of Lower Saxony (German Bright). Every two weeks samples were taken at 10 positions between the Ems and the Elbe. The occurrence of bloom forming and toxic plankton organisms, especially Phaeocystis, Chrysochromulina and Dinophysis was examined. Furthermore water temperature, salinity, seston, chlorophyll and nutrients ere measured.
