Report: Macrozoobenthos: Jadebusen (1975-1977)»
Description
In 1976 and 1977, a sedimentological and biological inventory was carried out on the waddings of the Jadebusen in order to assess the ecological situation related to industrial pollution. For the first time, aerial images in false colour were also used as a means of delimiting and defining wattypes or settlement units. In doing so, it was possible to relate the different colors and structures with physiographic properties of the wadding surface (sediment type, morphological relief, plant vegetation, dewatering state, etc.) and on this basis to divide the area into 27 biotopes (e.g. different types of sand, mixing and silting as well as surfing ramps, mussel benches, seagrass meadows, etc.) The statistical evaluations of the investigated soil physical, soil chemical and biological quantities are based on these biotopes. Together with hydrological-morphological conditions, up to 40 parameters (e.g. grain size distribution, strength properties, organic carbon, biomass of macrofauna) are recorded and should be represented in their interactions. Low fungi, single-celled benthic algae and their dye concentrations, macro-vegetation, meiofauna and macrofauna are taken into account for groups of organisms.
