Report: Macroalgae: Occurrences of Lower Saxony Wadden (1990-2004)»
Description
Eutrophication affects many coastal areas that
high anthropogenic nutrient intake
suffers, and causes significant changes in the local flora and fauna as well as oxygen deficiency in the sediment. Since 1989 an eye-catching
Mass occurrences of macroalgae (chlorophyta) on the eulitoral areas of the Wadden Sea,
the distribution and density of the algae cover
low Saxon Wadden Areas by Flying (1990—
2004) and ascents (1989-1994) in the
Summer months monitored. This report summarises:
all studies carried out together with regard to methodological aspects, extension and covering,
Species composition and biomass on the phenomenon of
Mass development of green algae until 2004 by NLWKN
eutrophication affects many coastal areas suffering
from anthropogenic nutrient inputs resulting in severe changes of the native flora and fauna as well as oxygen
depletion in the sediment. Since 1989, when a mass
development of macroalgae occurred in the intertidal of the Wadden Sea, the distribution and density of
macroalgae (Chlorophyta) in the intertidal Lower
Saxonian Wadden Sea region has been monitored by
Means of aerial surveys (1990-2004) and ground truth
(1989-1994) during summer months. This report
summarises all investigations which have been
conducted by the NLWKN concerning methods,
distribution and density, species inventory and biomass
of the phenomenon mass development of green algae.
