Report: Macrozoobenthos: Langeoog Watt (1953)»
Description
1) In the summer of 1953, the soil-inhabiting communities in the tide area of the Langeooger Watts were examined and mapped.
2) The biozootic composition of the Langeooger Watt has some similarities to those formed within bays thanks to its central position in the East Frisian wadding space.
3) The presence of large mixed watt complexes indicates that in almost all subregions of the Langeooger Watt, no stationary biological equilibrium has been established. Consequently, the conclusions to be drawn concerning land relocations must be included with some reservations.
4) Secured elevation and solidification tendencies can only be detected in the area of the Steinplate and in the south section of the Westerplate.
5) The rod plate is eroded in the west and is also mined at the surface by running water, which overflows the plate in the west direction.
6) The Langeooger Watthohe is subject to moderate attacks from the Langeooger Balje in the northern part. In the southern part, on the other hand, the attack from the rod is to be described as significant.
7) The mainland watt can be consistently referred to as stable. However, minor approaches to a natural landscaping can only be found in narrow spaces in front of Dornumersiel.
8) The western part of the Langeooger island watt has widened by the supply of sand in recent times. The previous soil removal, which can be detected in the middle part, appears to be compensated for by small new deposits.
