Description
As part of the project "Soil Fauna of Wadden and Beaches
around Borkum – Emsmündung" was an inventory of the wadden fauna (macrozoobenthos) from 1980 to 1981.
Borkum was carried out, where the abundance and biomass of MZB were recorded at 97 stations. (93 stations in
Database DBCoastal Biology) Occasion: unusual mass flushing of Cerastoderma edule on the island
Borkum. Check if other communities are affected.

published in the Annual Report 1981 Volume XXXIII of
Research Centre Coast In the framework of the project "Macrozoobenthos of
the tidal flats and beaches at Borkum island – Ems estuary" a survey of the Macrozoobenthos has been carried out in the
Borkum region from 1980 to 1981. Investigation of Macrozoobenthos abundance and biomass at 97 stations (93)
stations in the database DBCoastal Biology). Cause: unusual mass mortality of Cerastoderma edule: 3 000 t washed ashore
on the Island Borkum. Checking if other communities were affected.
