Description
The marching snail Assiminea grayana is one of the prosobranchi that has led evolution to a way of life in the Supralitoral. [...] Morphologically and histologically, it has been roughly described and has some peculiarities in the family of the Rissoidea. [...] In addition to the regular annual studies on TBT effects monitoring on the Lower Saxon coast, studies on Assimineen have been carried out from two stations in the Weserästuar since 2007. It should be clarified whether this prosobranchiene species similar to Littorina littorea, Hydrobia ulvae and other species can detect effects on the reproductive system by organozinn compounds present in the sediment. [...] Against the background of the 2008 results, sediment samples were taken as a supplement to the sampling of assiminea grayana sediment samples, primarily for antifouling biocides with androgenic (organozinn compounds), i.e. also anti-androgenic effects (Diuron, irgarol). [...] In addition, biological sampling took into account that substances with endocrine potential could leak out of the swamped plastic materials [...]. The results of 2009 and 2010 are summarised in this report.”
