Report: “Intercalibration for coastal and transitional waters of Lower Saxony (2007)”
Description
“The EC Water Framework Directive (WFD) requires a comprehensive biological assessment of waters, including coastal and transitional waters. Assessment procedures for macrozoobenthos, phytoplankton, macroalgae/angiosperms and fish fauna are being developed by Member States in coastal and transitional waters. In order to ensure the comparability of the results of each Member State’s biological assessment at EU level, the WFD provides for an intercalibration of procedures for selected water types, forms of water pollution and biocomponents. [...] On the basis of the decision of the LAWA AO, the countries have been committed to support the various tasks of intercalibration through the country financing programme “Water and Soil 2007”. This report documents the results of parts of the work in Lower Saxony throughout the context of WFD, which relate directly or indirectly to the intercalibration work on the coast and financed by the programme.”
