Acid sulphate soils 1:250 000
Description
1:250 000 data on acid sulphate soils have been produced since 2009 on the occurrence and properties of acid sulphate soils from Finland’s coastal areas and coastal catchment areas roughly up to the highest level of the ancient Litorina Sea. The material includes the following levels:
— Acid sulphate soils 1:250 000 regional levels of maps
O Probability of the presence of sulphate soils
O Probability of the presence of coarse sulphate soils
— Acid sulphate soils 1:250 000 map survey points
— Acid sulphate soils 1:250 000 mapping points
— Acid sulphate soils 1:250 000 maps point cards
The data is used to provide an overview of the properties and regions of acid sulphate soils in Finland. The regional presence of sulphate countries is shown on the map as a regional level classified into four categories of probability of occurrence: large, moderate, small and very small. In addition to these, information is presented as a regional level if the sour sulphate soil is coarse, since their properties differ significantly from typical fine-grained sulphate soils. The observation and analysis data of drilling points (study and mapping points) are presented on a map basis over the area level as point-like data and, in the case of research points, in the form of point cards. There are more samples and analysis data from the research points than from the survey points. The mapping data can be used, for example, in land use planning and in the preparation and implementation of water management planning and action plans in accordance with environmental protection and land use perspectives and requirements. The mapping scale is 1:20 0000-1:50 000. The average detection point density is 1-2/2 km² and the minimum size of the area pattern is usually 6 ha. In connection with the terrain surveys, observations have been collected on soil soils, the order of layers, the presence and depth of the sulphide, and the pH values of the soil. The survey depth is three meters. Laboratory analyses include elements assays using the ICP-OES method and pH incubation. The data will be published in the Geological Survey of Finland’s map service “Happamat sulfate soils”.
