Description

It includes the most up-to-date information available on the Habitats of Community Interest in Andalusia (HIC), for the year 2022. It may vary from the last year published based on the updates that have been made. In REDIAM, the review of Habitats of Community Interest is being carried out from the point of view of interpretation, location, delimitation and assessment of conservation status. The interpretation of HICs and their territorial delimitation constitute a complex task in a wide and biodiverse territory such as Andalusia, where up to 78 different Habitats (marine and terrestrial) have been detected. Each HIC presents a peculiar casuistry and it is not always easy to transfer its definition to the territory, configure its relationship with phytosociology or detect them based on photointerpretation, the main review and update tool available. This content constitutes the distribution information of the Habitats of Community Interest in Andalusia referring to 2022. The publication includes 70 types of terrestrial and 8 marine habitats, and 28 of these subtypes have been defined for better understanding and management. The result is 148 layers of spatial information. The information generated constitutes an exploitation of SIPNA (Information System of the Natural Heritage of Andalusia), where the habitats converge with SIOSEA (System of Soil Occupation of Spain in Andalusia) and the Cartography of the Vegetation of Andalusia. The cartography generated is based on the different information available over time and the successive partial updates by means of photointepretation and, therefore, represents the greatest possible approximation to the territorial reality with the available means. Therefore, the locations that make up each of the layers do not present an absolute probability or an exclusive certainty. Fieldwork done by subject matter experts can take precedence over information from these layers.
