Monitoring focus Biocides 2015 Wood glazes and wood preservatives
Description
Biocidal products may only be sold and used if they comply with the provisions of the Biocidal Products Regulation. In this report, the Federal Environment Agency experts examined the compliance of selected wood preservatives and other products used for wood coatings with the specified concentrations of the active substances iodopropynylbutylcarbamate, tebuconazole and propiconazole. In addition, it was assessed whether the biocidal active substances dichlofluanid and tolylfluanid are contained in the products. With regard to wood preservatives, the concentrations indicated were complied with, with a few exceptions. The majority of the various care and coating preservatives also contained biocidal active ingredients. On the labels, 2-butanonoxime was often declared. This link is suspected of cancer and should be included in subsequent investigations.
