Eutrophicated areas pursuant to § 13a DüV (01/2024) and affected field blocks (as of 09/2023) within the eutrophicated areas pursuant to § 13a DüV (01/2024) as shape

Description

The eutrophicated areas were derived according to the requirements of the Administrative Regulation for the designation of nitrate-polluted and eutrophicated areas (AVV GeA 2022) based on the surface water body sub catchment areas. Changes to the version of the backdrop of the eutrophicated areas pursuant to §13a Fertiliser Ordinance (status 12/2022) resulted from the use of the updated data set of the field blocks (09/2023). The evaluation is based on the monitoring results for phosphate and selected biological quality components collected for the implementation of the EC WAR in the period 2012-2019. For surface water bodies that are in “not good” status for both phosphate and one of the biological components, the proportion of agricultural phosphorus inputs (> 20 % of total input) and their total quantity (> 20 kg/km²/a in the lowlands, > 5 kg/km²/a in the lowlands) is also considered. The level of agricultural versus total phosphorus inputs was derived from the phosphorus modeling of the cooperation project GROWA+ NRW 2021 (https://www.flussgebiete.nrw.de/growa-nrw-2021-4994). Only if all specified criteria are met, a sub-basic surface water body catchment area is designated as a eutrophicated area. A new method in the recast of the AVV GeA (08/2022) has slightly changed the size of the eutrophicated areas, especially at the edges, compared to the level 01/2022. For the above-mentioned eutrophicated areas, the Fertiliser Regulation provides for additional agricultural measures. The identification of these affected field blocks was based on the field blocks provided by LWK NRW (status: 09/2023) by the LANUV NRW in accordance with the requirements of the General Administrative Regulation for the designation of nitrate-polluted and eutrophicated areas (AVV GeA) of 10.8.2022. All field blocks (as of 09/2023) are included, which are within the eutrophicated areas designated pursuant to §§ 8-13 AVV GeA with a surface area of at least 20 percent.
