Description
With the help of energy and CO2 balances, the actual state of final energy consumption, use of renewable energies and CO2 emissions in a municipality is determined and assigned to the different sectors and energy sources.
The BICO2 BW accounting tool was developed in 2010 by ifeu on behalf of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment and tested in a pilot phase on municipalities. An essential part of the project was the use of country-specific data to optimize balance sheet results. As part of the current project, new accounting years are integrated every year and the accounting method is adapted to the latest developments in the BISKO classification (accounting system municipal). In addition to a graphical preparation of the results, the tool also contains the indicator set of the benchmark municipal climate protection as well as an export sheet for the Covenant of Mayors.
A user manual as well as a specially developed training for the tool support the municipalities in their use.
