Protected areas Dune Decree
Description
This file shows the digital demarcations of protected areas designated and confirmed under the Dune Decree of 14 July 1993 (Belgian Official Gazette of 31/08/1993) by the Decree of 21 December 1994 and 29 November 1995 and recently minimally modified by the Decree of the Flemish Government of 19 September 2008 (Belgian Official Gazette of 29/10/2008). In the decree, two categories were distinguished within the protected areas, namely 'agricultural area important for the dune area' and 'protected dune area'. Protection is based on four criteria: surface area, spatial-ecological context, biological value and geomorphology-pedology.
