Characteristics of the class characters of the soil estimation

Description

The legend units of the class marks of the soil estimation and these excavations enclosed for content characterisation form the basis for the derivation of characteristic values to site properties (potential cation exchange capacity), water movement (saturated water conductivity) and water binding (field capacity, usable field capacity, air capacity). A derivation of the soil type-specific characteristic values is carried out in accordance with the soil history mapping instructions, 5th edition, Part B, pp. 342 – 372. The data set refers to a status of the soil estimate/ALKIS data of 23.9.2010. — Soil type of the topsoil contains the typical type of soil of the top layer of a standardised (simplified) class sign of soil estimation in the nomenclature of the soil history guide (KA5). As a basis, burial hole descriptions were used for soil estimation, which were translated with the help of the NIBIS according to KA5 and linked to the class areas of the soil estimation. — Field capacity of the soil up to 100 cm profile depth is the amount of soil water in volume % or mm of water column that it can bind at a suction voltage pF >= 1.8 or in pores with an equivalent diameter <= 50 µm. The classification is carried out according to KA5, p. 349, tab 74. — Usable field capacity of the soil up to 100 cm profile depth is the amount of soil water in volume % or mm of water column that it can bind at a defined suction voltage between pF = 1.8 and pF = 4.2 or in pores with an equivalent diameter between 50 µm and 0.2 µm. The classification is carried out according to KA5, p. 349, tab 74. — Floor air capacity up to 100 cm profile depth is the pore space that is filled with air at field capacity with a defined suction voltage of pF > 1.8. It is a measure of oxygen supply to plant roots. The classification is carried out according to KA5, p. 349, tab 74. — Saturated water conductivity of the soil up to 100 cm profile depth is a measure of the permeability of a water-saturated soil. The classification is according to KA5, p. 355, tab 80. — Potential cation exchange capacity of the soil up to 100 cm profile depth represents the amount of interchangeably bound cations at the sorption complex at a pH of 8.2. The classification is carried out according to KA5, p. 362, tab 85.
