Rural Land Use Netherlands – LGN6
Description
The LGN6 file is a national grid file with a resolution of 25 meters in which 39 forms of land use are distinguished. The stock distinguishes the main agricultural crops, a number of nature classes and urban classes. The LGN6 file has undergone some important changes to LGN5. The geometry and theme on main classes is now fully based on Top10 vector (2006 version). Agricultural plots, greenhouses, orchards, fruit nurseries, tree nurseries, sand, heathland, forests, water and infrastructure have been taken over from Top10vector. The urban area is defined by means of the stocks of Constructed Area (BG2003) and Resistant Use of Land (BBG). Satellite images from 2007 and 2008, aerial photographs, Basic Map Nature 2007 (BKN2007) and LGN5 were used for the further interpretation of the main classes. The definitions of the land use classes have been tightened.
Land use files LGN1 and LGN2 were still experimental stocks with limited accuracy and clear shortcomings. In LGN3, these shortcomings have been largely resolved and LGN3plus greatly improves the usability of the file for applications in the field of nature and ecology. The LGN4 file has taken a new step in expanding the application capabilities of the LGN file. Important improvements in the LGN4 file include a link between agricultural crops and TOP10 vector and the possibility of detecting land use changes that occurred in the period 1995-2000. Versions 1-3 of the LGN file were delivered as a single raster file. The LGN6 file, like the LGN4 and LGN5 files, does not consist of a single raster file, but forms a collection of files.
