Overview of the shares of the various main energy sources in the heat demand per district
In Freiburg, a gas network is largely available. A few municipalities are mainly developed with heating networks (Weingarten, Rieselfeld, Vauban). In addition, there are also urban districts, in which in addition to the gas network there are also larger heating networks. The municipality of Mundenhof occupies a special position – due to the low demand for heat, there is neither a gas network nor a heating network.
In addition to the grid-connected heat supply, there are also buildings where the heat supply is provided with biomass (plellets, wood, wood chips), electricity in the form of heat pumps or coal.
Each building in Freiburg was assigned a main energy carrier. This is the energy source that provides the majority of the heat supply of the respective building. The data source for the main energy carriers was consumption data of the grid operator and data of the chimney sweeps.
