Greenports underground storage 1st water-bearing package - 2014
Description
This map shows the location of priority areas for the storage of water in the first aquifer package for greenhouse horticulture and arboriculture. The areas are included in the Vision Space and Mobility Province of South Holland
Because of the importance of a sustainable irrigation water supply in the greenports, underground storage in the first water-bearing package has priority over other uses in this part of the subsurface. This prioritisation can be deviated from if an integral consideration of underground and above-ground interests has been carried out in a plan adopted by the municipality and space is created in that plan for another function in the first water-carrying package, for example heat-cold storage).
The province wants municipalities with intensive greenhouse horticulture to reserve sufficient space in zoning plans for underground storage in the first water-bearing package. As an aid, the province has created a ‘opportunity map of underground rainwater storage’ for six concentration areas in the greenports.
