Energy and Greenhouse Gas Scenario Transition 2040.
Description
In cooperation with experts from CESAR, e-think, TU Graz and TU Wien, the Federal Environment Agency is showing a path to a climate-neutral Austria. Climate neutrality 2040 requires legal, economic and social framework conditions in order to significantly reduce energy consumption, to make greater use of renewable energy sources and to decouple the development of the economy from greenhouse gas emissions. The modelling shows that by 2040, energy consumption can be reduced by 30% (based on 2020), while greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by 84%. The remaining emissions from energy and industry, agriculture and waste treatment can be offset by further reduction and compensation measures. Economic growth, employment and income are expected to have slightly positive effects.
