Traffic flow data of the City of Oulu

Description

Real-time traffic flow analysis, i.e. traffic congestion data from the main road and street networks in the Oulu region. The analysis is based on the national traffic control system (TMS) maintained by traffic management and the regional traffic performance monitoring system (TPM) maintained by the City of Oulu and the ELY Centre for Northern Ostrobothnia. Traffic flow analysis is based on averages collected every 5 minutes from both data sources. The result of the analysis is the GeoJSON data structure, which includes all road network geometry. TMS-based traffic flow calculation is based on the current speed limit and the average traffic speed measured by the TMS station. There are 4 modes in the traffic flow: Green – normal conditions – average speed is less than or equal to 9 km/h below the speed limit Yellow – light traffic congestion – an average speed of at least 10 km/h and not more than or equal to 24 km/h below the speed limit Red – heavy traffic congestion – an average speed of at least 25 km/h below the speed limit Grey – unknown condition – average speed could not be determined TPM-based traffic flow calculation is based on two values of the performance indicator (KPI) measured by traffic light devices: the control delay and the maximum number of waiting cycles. There are 4 modes in the traffic flow: Green – normal conditions – a control delay of less than 60 seconds or a maximum number of waiting cycles of 0 Yellow – light traffic jam – the steering delay is between 60 and 120 seconds or the maximum number of waiting cycles is 1 Red – heavy traffic jam – a steering delay of more than 120 seconds or a maximum number of waiting cycles greater than 1 Grey – unknown condition – KPI could not be determined The download link to this dataset leads to a guide page describing the public GraphQL interfaces for car traffic in Oulu.
