Short study on the Energy Efficiency Act.
Description
In the study, target values for the Austrian final consumption of energy were determined from the national and European specifications. In order to ensure the sustainable supply of renewable energy, an intermediate target for final energy consumption should be set for 2030 between 820 and 920 petajoules (PJ) and for primary energy consumption between 947 and 1,048 PJ. The target value for 2040 was calculated with almost 700 PJ final energy consumption, with increased implementation of energy efficiency measures it is reduced to 630 PJ. By 2040, therefore, an expansion of renewable energy sources to 767-840 PJ is necessary, which at the same time protects biodiversity and valuable land.
The implementation of efficiency measures increases the resilience of the energy system and value creation and has positive effects on the labour market.
