Annual average ETP (Thornthwaite): Annual mean evapotranspiration (mm)
Description
The annual average ETP map (Thornthwaite): Annual mean evapotranspiration (mm), belongs to a group of thematic maps based on agroclimatic variables called Characterization or Agroclimatic Information. ETP refers to a concept introduced by Thornthwaite that indicates the maximum amount of water that can evaporate from a soil completely covered with vegetation, which develops in optimal conditions and in the case of no limitations in the availability of water. The ETP map represents a model of annual average potential evapotranspiration according to Thornthwaite through a map of hyposometric inks throughout Spain, encompassing each area according to the following parameters: without information, less than 500 mm, 500 – 600 mm, 600 – 700 mm, 700 – 800 mm, 800 – 900 mm, 900 – 1000 mm, 1000 – 5000 mm. This information is produced by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge by geostatistical interpolation methods (kriging) from the data of 1803 stations belonging to the network of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
