Protection markings for provincial plans

Description

Protection markings for provincial plans are an interface service (WMS and WFS), through which the following map layers are available: Designations of protected areas in the form of regional reserves, sub-regions, lines and points, Reserves for protected areas, Reserves for natural protected areas, Area reserves for Ancient Memorial areas, Reserves for areas in building protected areas, other plans containing conservation values in the form of area reservations, sub-areas, points and lines. The area bookings (S-, SL-, SM-, and SR) cover all of Finland and can be downloaded not only from WMS and WFS services, but also as a location file (ESRI SHP or geopackage). Other design entries containing conservation values, as well as S, SL, SM and SR markings as sub-areas, points and lines, are added to the services in a step-by-step manner. The service is based on uniform regional plan combinations according to the HAME data model, which have compiled national data products related to the protection theme. The service was implemented in autumn 2019 as part of the Regional Government sub-project of the Spatial Information Platform. The aim of the project has been to demonstrate the benefits of the unified information model as an enabler of national information services. The data are managed by the Regional Council of Southwest Finland/Southwestern Tieto. The material was completed in January 2021. Geopackage is an open database-based file format standardised by OGC, where different geometry types are stored in their own tables.
