Description
In spring 2016, an airborne laser scan flight took place to generate a new high-precision terrain model for the entire Saarland. The terrain surface was scanned with a laser installed in the aircraft. As a result, the high-precision DGM1 with a grid width of 1m and an average height accuracy of 1-2 dm has been available since the beginning of 2017. As a desired side effect, in addition to terrain data, objects on the earth's surface such as buildings and vegetation were also scanned, which are available as surface data. Digital terrain models (DGM) are digital, numerical models of the terrain heights and shapes of the earth's surface, reduced to a regular grid. DGM may also contain additional information (e.g. terrain edges, ribbed lines, distinctive terrain points). They do not contain information about structures (e.g. bridges) and vegetation. The DGM1 differs from the other DGMs in its height accuracy and grid width.
