Public production and consumption; transactions, public sectors
Description
This table contains data on the production and consumption of the government sector. Government production (output) is calculated from the sum of production costs, consisting of intermediate consumption, compensation of employees, depreciation, non-product taxes and non-product subsidies. As the subsidies received reduce the costs, the subsidies have a negative value in this table. Part of the public production is sold on the market, used for self-investment or is provided as non-market output, but with a partial remuneration. The majority of public production is used as other non-market output made freely available to citizens through public consumption.
Public consumption can be divided into individual and collective consumption expenditure. Individual government consumption is equal to the social transfers in kind from the government, which was partly produced by the government itself and bought in another part from other producers. Collective public consumption is the remaining part of government consumption.
The terms used are in line with the National Accounts. The National Accounts are based on the international definitions of the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010). The transaction moment determines the moment of booking. The data presented corresponds to the publications on the National Accounts. There may be minor temporary differences with the publications of the National Accounts due to the fact that the published figures of the government accounts are sometimes more current.

The 2021 reporting year is provisional, the reporting years 2020 and earlier are final.

Figures for the year 2021 are available. In addition, figures for 2020 have been updated.

When are new figures coming?
New figures will be published 6 months after the end of a reporting year.
